Carolyn Scott
Urban Missionary

Dear Friends,

Since I was 19 years old, my life has been devoted to serving Christ. After seminary, there were brief seasons of full-time vocational ministry, but the majority of my Kingdom work has been done on my own time and on my own dime. Some people are terrified of public speaking, but what terrifies me is asking for money! So for years, I’ve worked 25–30 hours a week for income, and another 15+ hours/week serving various Philadelphia Christian nonprofits without pay (list at the bottom of this page).

By making a tax deductible donation to Flying Monkeys Project (FMP) with the link on this page, you will be helping us raise a 'salary' that will provide me the time to work 30+ hours per week for FMP and also dedicated 20+ hours weekly to 'Ministry' and writing multiple books I've not had the time to write.

Your support will allow me to develop multiple programs:

Flying Monkeys Project

As a co-founder of this nonprofit in the sex-abuse and human-trafficking space, your support will allow me to dedicate 25+ hours per week to building out this program in my role as Chief Operations Officer.

Philadelphia Council of Clergy

I will be credentialed as an Urban Missionary through the Philadelphia Council of Clergy, and represent them as Director of Special Projects.

One City One Love

One City has been tip-of-the-spear in Church Unity work in Philadelphia for over 10 years.  I will be dedicating time every month to assisting with some of what they already do, and  rolling out the Ministry Leaders Cohorts as a new arm of their ministry.

Other Ways to Support

Booking me as a public speaker, hosting one of my workshops at your church, or scheduling coaching sessions all help reach my income needs, and also contribute to the ministry budget!

MINISTRY LEADER COHORTS

In Sept 2025 I created the first annual Ministry Leaders Summit in partnership with the Philadelphia Council of Clergy. The intention is to launch a new ministry where we'll host cohorts for ministry leaders based on their ministry genre (Prison, Teen, Women's, Men's, Marriage, Homeless/Mercy, Prayer, and Outreach).

When people connect over shared passion, they pray differently, they talk best practices and they understand each others joys and frustrations.

Furthermore, uniting over shared passion helps leaders too lay down denominational differences and work together as ONE body of  Christ in Philadelphia, to do things together they could not accomplish alone.

In 2023 a good friend lost her daughter to a predator who 'groomed' her online. In the midst of her grief, she asked me to help her launch a non profit to grow awareness around grooming tactics.

Cults, human traffickers and 'creepy older men' preying on girls, boys, and young women, all use the same basic techniques to manipulate and entrap.  Though this is 'common knowledge' among experts, very few of us  have ever heard of "flying monkeys" or any other grooming tactics.

This non profit will develop 2 programs, one for teens, and the other for parents.  In this arena, prevention is everything.

PHILLY CENSUS OF CHURCHES

There are an estimated 2000 churches in Philadelphia.  In 1999 a UPENN project mapped & interviewed over 1500 churches and concluded that over half a billion dollars of services were provided annually by churches,  alleviating those needs from the city budget.

Two weeks before his death, Bill Krispin was calling pastors he mentored, to give last words of challenge & encouragement.  He called me to challenge me to finally execute a new Census of Churches, as he and I had discussed doing for many years. Our goals are to:

  1. Connect with Church Leaders, launch ministry leader cohorts, and promote Unity and Collaboration

  2. Map ministries across the city & provide a website where people can FIND churches and their ministries

  3. Tap into prayer team wisdom and create a 'spiritual map' of the city.

  4. Create a Website (see below) so people can find churches & ministries.

Connect with Leaders From Across Philadelphia, Who Serve in the Same Kind of Ministry as Y

COLLABORATION PHILLY WEBSITE

This is the website I've been wanting to create since 2016.  But it is dependent on the Philly Census of Churche. Here, people can search for ministries of all  kinds and find the churches that have them! And that's just the tip of the iceberg.  The infrastructure is designed. Now to populate and promote!

TEACHING MINISTRY

BOOKS

I have 2 books almost completed, and have outlined 4 more books and a children's series, but have no time to finish any of it.

PODCAST & WORKSHOPS

Designed for Victory and The Forgiveness Journal will both be turned into a podcast, workshops, and online classes, but creating takes SO much time!

STUDY & RESEARCH

Professors and Pastors have study built into their jobs.  Study and research are essential for me, but again... time.

URBAN MISSIONARY

I have been essentially functioning as an urban missionary to Philadelphia since 2016, when I quit my job to start a non profit and began to freelance and drive for Uber to pay the bills.

Since 2016, and alongside my regular service in my church, I've been blessed to contribute to a lot of kingdom work, including:

  • Co-founded The Philadelphia Gospel Movement and sat 4 years on the board

  • Helped bring Jesus Week to Philadelphia, and continue to assist

  • Assisting in rebuilding The Philadelphia Council of Clergy (paid)

  • Supported multiple organizations with infrastructure and event planning

  • Launched a monthly meeting of youth ministry leaders with Jonny Radcliff of National Network of Youth Ministers (NNYM).

  • Participate in Intercession and Worship events across the city

  • Wrote and released two FREE books on my website, and have 6 theological books and a children's series outlined.

  • In September 2025, I launched a new ministry serving leaders from multiple churches and denominations across Philadelphia, that will live and grow in partnership with Philadelphia Council of Clergy and One City One Love.

CO-FOUNDER & C.O.O., FLYING MONKEYS PROJECT

In 2023 a close friend lost her daughter to an online predator, just days after she turned 18. The hope of her return is not yet lost, but in the midst of her grief, she asked if I could help her start a non profit to somehow help others to not have to suffer as her family has. So, we did!  By donating to Flying Monkeys Project (FMP) you'll both help raise a modest salary for me, and fund our program development.  You can learn more here: FlyingMonkeysProject.org

If you are willing to make a one time or monthly recurring donation, please use the link below.  It is for a designated campaign under Flying Monkeys Project to raise my salary.  All in all, I am tremendously grateful for every dollar donated and every prayer offered.

And on that note, if you are wiling to commit to praying for me and these ministries, fill out the contact form below, and write "PRAYER TEAM" in the comment box, and I'll add you to my prayer list for monthly updates.

THANK YOU SO MUCH

In His Love,
Carolyn Scott
